Ayurveda a Sanskrit word the meaning of which is “The Science of Life” has its origin in India more than 5000 years ago. Amongst the medical systems that are vogue in the world today, Ayurveda is certainly considered as the “Most Scientific” in dealing with not only curative but preventative aspects of disease and in most comprehensive way.
According to Ayurveda, every human being is a unique phenomenon of cosmic consciousness manifested through the five fundamental elements (Panch Bootha) viz. Ether, Air, Water, Fire & earth.
Ether + Air =Vata, Fire +Water=Pitta Water+Earth= Kapha called Tridosha are present in each and every cell, tissues and in organs of human body, of course, in different permutations and combinations. And according to these combinations every individual’s psychosomatic temperament or constitution is determined.
The constitution of Human Body has consistent balance VPK.The unconventional food habits, peculiar life style, the seasonal/climatic changes, repressed emotions, stresses etc. are but few of the many vital factors that affect Agni (Gastric fire) resulting in improper digestion accumulating in producing the sticky substance called toxin or Ama. Such toxins are the root cause of diseases impairing the doshic balance. For Example the accumulation of Ama in lungs causes Kaphic disorder or respiratory diseases.
